The topic of the lesson is about volunteering,my students are familiar with the topic so
they have quite good background knowledge. However, some of my students might find it difficult to use the key words and expressions in after-reading activities.

Let the Ss Open their books and turn to Page 20 and close them.
Try to do the same thing without their hands.

1. Ask Ss to read the first paragraph and try to answer questions.
2. Let Ss predict what they are going to read in the next three paragraphs according to the first paragraph and the picture
3. Ask Ss to choose the structure of the passage.
4. Read more carefully and finish 2d.
5. Answer questions
6. Choose to be Lucky/a member of Animal Helpers/Miss Li/ Ben Smith’s friend, try to retell Ben Smith’s story with the mind map on the blackboard.
