教學目標:
1. Knowledge aims:
1) To learn more words and expressions about this story. 2) To understand the process of finding the aliens. 3) To find out the three main elements of each part. 2. Ability aims:
1) To practice the ability of listening, reading and speaking. 2) To improve the ability of skimming. 3. Emotion aims:
1) To arouse students interests of the unknown world. 2) To give a suitable suggestion to solve the problem.
學情分析:
Analysis of the teaching material: This period is aiming at reading an article about aliens. It is easier for them to understand because they prepared well for the test. As each paragraph almost has the same task---find out the three main elements and do some exercises, students can practice the ability of listening, reading and speaking again and again. What’s more, students could practice their spoken English well by reciting the story and performing the story.
Analysis of the students: Students are interested in unknown things, so it’s exciting for them to learn this story. For half of them have difficulty to study English, it is necessary for them to learn new words before studying each part. And they can help each other when they discuss in groups. Although they are not familiar with the process of the incident, they are pleased to guess who the aliens are and perform each part of the story.
重點難點
To catch the process of the story by skimming and act as Tina to recite the story.
教學過程:
Step1 Warming up
1. Show a picture of space to talk about whether you want to travel in the space. 2. Give four sentences about aliens.
3. Brainstorm: Do you agree or disagree? Why?
Step2 Pre-reading
1. See a video clip about aliens and tell us what happened.
(The main idea of the video: The alien Tried to find a suitable planet to live, but the met
lots of strange animals on other planets. At last they decided to come to the earth.) 2. Lead to the topic: Aliens arrive!
Step3 Reading
1. Find out the main idea of each part.
2. Review the three main elements of a story: 1) When 2) Where 3) Who 3. Part Ⅰ
1) Listen to the tape.
2) Find out the three main elements of the first part. 3) Answer the questions. 4) Conclude part Ⅰ 4. Part Ⅱ
1) Listen to the tape.
2) Find out the three main elements of the second part. 3) Fill in the blanks. 4) Conclude part Ⅱ 5. Part Ⅲ
1) Listen to the tape.
2) Find out the three main elements of the third part.
3) Show some pictures and discuss what the aliens look like and what Tom and Tina look like.
4) Find out the evidence.
Step 4 After-reading
1. Act as Tina and retell the story to the policeman with the help of the expressions shown on the screen. 2. Perform each part of the story. 3. Sing a song together.
Step 5 Homework
1. Read the story after the tape
2. Finish the exercise D1 and D2 on page 101
