活動1【導入】I. Pre-story activities:
1. Let’s talk:
①How are you? → I’m fine/ happy.
②Do you like English? (Ss: Yes, we do.) → I’m happy to hear that. (Bb: I’m … To hear that.)
③What can you hear? → a telephone (Teach: telephone)
④Do you have a telephone at home?
⑤Can you make telephone calls? → (Bb: a telephone call)
⑥Can we make telephone calls in class? (Ss: No, we can’t.)
→ T: We can’t make telephone calls in class. But today we can. Why? Because we are learning how to make telephone calls in English today.
2. Let’s look:
①Good,we are happy today. Look at the picture. Are the children happy too? → Yes,they are in the happy land. They enjoy playing there.
→Oh, wait.Someone is missing. Who are not here?
→ Miss Li is in her office. But where is Yang Ling? Is she in Miss Li’s office? Let’s call MissLi.
②A telephone call to Miss Li:
Tip: Phone expressions: This is… speaking. May I speak to. (Bb)
→She is not in Miss Li’s office. Where is she? Let’s call Yang Ling.
③A telephone call to Yang Ling:
Tip: I’m sorry to hear that. (Bb)
④Yang Ling is ill. Miss Li doesn’t know where Yang Ling is. She is worried.
→What should Yang Ling do now? (Ss: call Miss Li and ask for absent.)
→Yes, Yang Ling calls Miss Li. Now let’s listen to the telephone call and choose.
活動2【講授】II. While-story tasks:
Task 1. Listen and choose.
Ss listen to the first telephone call and choose to answers. T helps explain the new words: cough, headache, cold, fever.
①Can Yang Ling come to school today?
②What’s the matter with Yang Ling? (Bb: What’s the matter?)
Bb: I have a … (cough, headache, cold,fever.)
Task 2. Think and say:
T: Yang Ling has a cold and a fever. What can she do? Do you have any suggestions(建議)?
→Take care.
→If we are ill, we can go to the hospital and see a doctor. I can introduce you a nice doctor: Doctor Wu. (Say a rhyme)
Task 3. Watch and answer:
T: Miss Li is a nice teacher. She is worried about Yang Ling. In the afternoon, she makes a telephone call to Yang Ling.
①How is Yang Ling in the afternoon?
②Can she come to school tomorrow?
Task4. Listen and repeat.
Student imitate the telephone call, pay attention to pronunciation and intonation.
Task5. Watch and dub.
Students first read with the cartoon. Then dub in roles.
活動3【活動】III. Post-story activities:
1. You have done a great job. Can you make a telephone call now?
→How to make a telephone call? (結合板書: This is… speaking. May I speak to…?)
T: Yang Ling is ill. She has a cold and a fever . She can’t come to school today. Miss Li calls her and she is fine now. Her classmates care about her and they make telephone calls.
2. Can you make a telephone call? How many stars can you get? Great!
→Now let’s look at aim2: I know some illness.What illness do you know? Let’s play a game.
Ss look at the pictures of the apples with a letter and say what illness it is.
→ When we are ill, please remember to go and see a doctor.
→ If you don’t want to be sick, you can eat more fruits and do more sports. We have a famous saying in English: An apple a day, keeps the doctor away.
→ All right. We know Mike likes fruits. He can make a fruit salad. He can play basketball very well too. But today he calls Miss Li. He says he can’t come to school. Is he ill? Let’s have a look.
