I. Teaching aims 
Students will be able to: 
1. grasp the key words: mooncake, lantern, stranger, relative, put on, pound. etc. 
2. recognize six festivals in our country: Mid-Autumn Festival, Spring Festival, Lantern Festival, Water Festival, Dragon Boat Festival. 
3. use objective clauses with that, if and whether to talk about their idea about festivals. 
4. use the exclamatory sentence. 
5. develop the listening and speaking skills. II. Important Points  
Students will be able to grasp the key words: mooncake, lantern, stranger, relative, put on, pound.  III. Difficult points 
 Students will have difficult in the Objective clauses with that, if and whether.

1. Greetings and leading-in.  2. Play a video about Mid-Autumn Festival for students to watch. 1. Greeting

Step 2 
Presentation 
1. Encourage students to look at the pictures and recognize the festivals. 2. Let students talk about what people usually do on these festivals, using objective clause with that, if and whether. 
1. Look and recognize the festival.  2. Talk about the festivals, using objective clause with that, if and whether. Aims: To make Ss familiar with the words and objective clause. Step 3  Pair Work 
1. Let students talk about their favorite festival and what people usually do on these festivals. 1. Talk about their favorite festival. Aims: To make Ss practice the expressions and sentence patterns. 
  
Step 4 Listening (1b)  
1. Have the students read the sentences in the box in 1b. 2. Guess what festival they will talk about. 3. Play the recording for the Ss to listen and circle T or F. 4. Check the answers by asking volunteers. 1. Read carefully   
2. Have a guess.  
3. Listen and circle.   4. Check the answers. 
Aims: To make Ss practice listening skills and find the key information. 
 Step 5 Pair work ( 1c )  
1. Invite a student to talk about the Dragon Boat Festival.  2. Encourage Ss to ask their partner about the festivals in 1a. 3. Invite some pairs to show their conversations for the class. 1. Listen the conversation between teacher and the volunteer. 
2. Talk about the festivals in 1a with partner. 
3. Act out conversations in class. Aims: To make Ss develop speaking skills. 
 
                    
             
                    
                              
Step 6 Listening ( 2a—2b ) 
1. Ask Ss to read the sentences in 2a. 
2. Have them listen and circle the correct words in the sentences. 3. Have Ss work in pairs to correct their answers. 
4. Have the Ss read the chart and listen again and fill in the blanks in 2b. 
5. Check the answers. 
6. Ask Ss to listen and match the opinions of Wu Ming and Harry. 7. Ask Ss to retell the passage using the information in 2a and 2b. 
1. Read the sentences in 2a.  
2. Listen to the tape and circle the correct words. 3. Check the answers by reading the right word. 4. Listen again and fill in the blanks in 2b.  
5. Correct the answers. 6. Listen and match

Aims: To make Ss develop listening skills and find the key information. Step 7 Pair work   
1. Invite some students to talk about their vacation.   2. Organize Ss into pairs to make conversations using the information we learned in class. 3. Encourage Ss to act out their conversation in class.
