Scanning 1)Ask students to scan the passage and choose the main idea of the passage to check their guesses. 2) Ask students to divide the five paragraphs into several parts and choose the main idea of each part. 2. Skimming. 1)Let the students read Para1&2 carefully and answer questions ① When did the writer arrive? ②What did the writer do after he/she arrived? ③Who did the writer meet? ④What does “replied” mean? ⑤How soon will the writer get there?
2)Ask students to read Para 3 and choose the correct answers
