Teaching Objectives
After learning this lesson, students are going to achieve the following objectives. (1) Language level: Ss can master the knowledge about the space.
(2) Skill level: Ss can practice their reading skills such as skimming and scanning. Ss are able to improve their thinking ability including the ability of analyzing and speculating. (3) Emotion: To stimulate Students’ interests on technology.
Teaching Key Point
How to improve Ss’ reading ability by acquiring some useful reading skills? Teaching Difficult Point
How to stimulate Ss’ learning interest on technology and how to practice their thinking abilities. Teaching Aids: PPT, video, computer projector. Teaching allotments: 40 minutes
Teaching Procedures Step I: lead in (4 mins)
1. T plays a video of the moon and Ss talk about their feeling about the moon. 2. Ss talk about the means of transportation they need for moon travel.
Step II: Reading (13 mins)
1. Fast Reading: Ss skim the whole passage and match the main idea of each paragraph. 2. Careful Reading: Ss read paragraph 2 carefully and find out the changes of gravity. 3. Scanning: Ss scan the whole passage and fill in the blanks of some special phenomena. 4. Ss read the text again and discuss in groups to explain the special phenomena.
StepⅢ: Post-reading (23 mins)
1. Ss brainstorm the things that they may do if they arrive the moon.
2. T play a video about space test and then Ss make a discussion about the animal or plant they may bring for space test.
3. Ss draw a space test and introduce their design in front of the class.
