教學(xué)目標(biāo)
1. Knowledge and Abilities: Be able to read and understand the new words and phrases: storm, wind, light, report, area, wood, window, flashlight, match, beat…against, fall asleep, die down, rise, fallen, apart.
2. Process and Methods: Be able to tell of an event and show the views through listening and reading.
3. Attitude, Emotion and Value: Be willing to help others in times of difficulty.
2學(xué)情分析
The students are from Grade 8. They have known some expressions and  care about the weather and nature. They are able to read the short passages in English.
3重點(diǎn)難點(diǎn)
Teaching Key Points:To learn the key words and the structure of the whole passage.
Teaching Difficult Points:To discuss how to help people in times of difficulty.

4.1第一學(xué)時(shí)
4.1.1教學(xué)活動(dòng)
活動(dòng)1【導(dǎo)入】 Greetings and Warming-up
T: Good afternoon, everyone! How are you? How’s the weather today? Welcome today’s weather reporter, please!
S1(the Weather Reporter): Hello, everyone! I’m… It’s sunny today. It will be cloudy tomorrow. You’d better take one coat with you. The day after tomorrow, it’ll be rainy. Don’t forget to take an umbrella. Maybe we can’t have fun in P.E. class outside. Don’t be sad. That’s all. Thank you!
T: Thank you! So you know the weather can’t be always nice. It will be different. Yes? Would you like to play a game—to tell the differences?
Ss: Yes!
T: I’ll show you some pairs of pictures. And you have to tell the differences between each pair. OK! Let’s go!
活動(dòng)2【講授】New words and expressions--Game: Tell the differences
Show the pictures. Lead Ss to learn the new words. Check whether they previewed them before the class. Invite some Ss to answer.
Next, get Ss to Match the Words with the Pictures to considerate the words and phrases.
活動(dòng)3【活動(dòng)】A Reading Game
T: Do you like the game? Would you like to try another one? Luckily, there is a reading game for you. Do you like reading? Here are 5 levels. We should finish all the tasks step by step. If we make it, we’ll be the super star. Are you ready?
Level 1: A Survey before Reading
T: Do you know storms?
Show a video about a storm to learn the new word—storm. Lead Ss to read it.
T: Do you think storms are terrible? Can you guess what we will read about?
Have Ss discuss in pairs.
Level 2: Fast Reading
Lead Ss to read the title and the picture.
Get Ss to know the Reading Strategy: Reading the Title and Pictures. The title can be helpful for you to understand a text. It is also a good idea to read the pictures before you read the whole text.
Ask Ss to look through the passage to get the main idea.
Level 3: Detailed Reading
1. Ask Ss to scan the paragraph 1 to answer: What’s the weather like before the heavy rain started? Then fill in the chart.

2. Ask Ss to scan paragraph 2 to answer: What were people (Ben’s parents) doing?
Ben’s dad Ben’s mom
1. He was putting ______over the windows. 2. She was making sure the __________were working. 3. She put _________on the table.
Get Ss to know the Reading Strategy: Usually the topic sentences appear at the beginning of the passage. The topic sentences can often tell us what the passage is about.
3. Ask Ss to scan paragraph 3 to answer: What was Ben doing when the rain began to beat heavily against the windows?
4. Ask Ss to scan paragraph 4 to finish the task: TRUE OR FALSE.
1. Ben fell asleep when the wind was being stronger and stronger.
2. When Ben woke up, it’s still no light outside.
3. Although the storm broke many things apart, it made people help each other.
Have Ss guess the meaning of in a mess. Then get them to know the Reading Strategy: We can understand the meaning of a new word from the context.
Level 4: Retelling Competition (Group Work)
Show some words and pictures for Ss to retell the story. Divide the Ss into four groups. Each group will vote a student to retell the story. Which group does the best, it’ll be the winner.
Level 5: After You Read
Lead Ss to summarize the whole story. Show the structure of the passage for Ss.

Show a video and some pictures for Ss to discuss in groups:
1. What other things can bring people closer together?
2. How can we help each other in times of difficulty?
Then invite some students to share their ideas.
活動(dòng)5【活動(dòng)】Self-Check and Summary
Lead Ss to do a self-evaluation about whether they did well in this class. Then summarize the lesson together. We should try to help others in times of difficulty and build our home better.
活動(dòng)6【作業(yè)】Homework
1. Write a passage about one event which can bring people closer together.
2. Try to help others in times of difficulty!
