Teaching Aims
1.      Knowledge Aims:
After the lesson, students should be able to
Master the important phrases and sentences: volunteer ,be similar to ,  give up, support ,  achieve, be born with , It’s adj. for sb. to do sth.
It’s adj. of sb. to do sth.                   
2.      Ability Aims:
Be able to make a story using the language points.
3. Emotional Aims:
Cultivate students’ interest in taking an active part in social welfare activities and develop their consciousness of helping others.
Teaching Emphasis
   Grasp the important language points and make good use of them.
Teaching Difficulties
 How to use the language points to make a story.
Teaching Methods
   In this period I will adopt Task-based Language Teaching Method.
Teaching Aids
   Multi-media player, the blackboard
Teaching Procedures
 
Task 1.  Competition
Ask: What’s the article about?
The article includes four parts: an introduction ; what volunteers do; Liu Ming’s experience and Liu Ming’s feelings about the event.
Ask each group choose one .
 
Task 2. Explain the important sentences
1.When he volunteered for the Special Olympics World Summer Games. / It’s fantastic to work as a volunteer.
2.They include many events similar to those in the Olympics , such as basketball, football and swimming.
3.Over 40,000people gave up their spare time for the 2007 Special Olympics World Games.
4.They provided support for the athletes .
You get to help them achieve their dreams.
5.He was born with intellectual disabilities.
6.It was necessary for these volunteers to receive training before doing the tasks.
It was brave of him to join the competition.
 
Task3:Tell a story about Nick
Make a story using the following words and phrases.
volunteer         be similar to        give up    support           achieve            be born with        It’s adj. for sb. to do sth.  
It’s adj. of sb. to do sth.
Complete the story about Nick
Nick isn’t ___________ us because he ____________ arms or legs. It’s hard ______ him to act like a healthy person. But he has a spirit of ____________ , it’s brave _______ him to try many things. Good morning, honorable judges.  Today I feel very happy to have the chance to communicate with you about the teaching plan of Unit6 Reading2 from Book 8B.  I will divide the instructions into seven parts.  They are Teaching Material Analysis, Teaching Aims, Teaching Emphasis, Teaching Difficulties, Teaching Methods, Teaching Aids and Teaching Procedures.
Part 1 Teaching Material Analysis
This passage is from unit6 Sunshine for all.  It is the second topic in this unit.  It is about how to help people in need . Such a topic is helpful to cultivate students’ interest in taking an active part in social welfare activities and develop their consciousness of helping others.  So this lesson plays an important role in this unit.
Part 2.Teaching Aims
1.      Knowledge Aims:
After the lesson, students should be able to

(Purpose: this helps the students go over the whole article and know about the main idea of the article. At the same time, it is helpful to develop the students’ reading skills.)

Its confident of him to join the competition.
3.雙胞胎在很多方面相似。
The twins are similar in many ways.
4.如果你想取得成功,你就絕不能放棄。
If you want to achieve success, you will never give up.
5.霍尊天生有一個好嗓音。
Huo Zun was born with a good voice.
6.那些志愿者們志愿幫助有需要的人們。
The volunteers volunteer to help people in need.
(Purpose: To consolidate the key knowledge they learnt just now in time by askingsome students to put them into English on the blackboard.)
Task4:Tell a story about Nick
Make a story using the following words and phrases.

(Purpose: by watching a video about Nick, let the students make a story  about Nick in groups. Check the students' ability of using language.)
