Teaching plan of “ California ” 
Analysis of the teaching material 
This is a listening and talking about  California. It  introduces the history of  California  and describes the great scenes and different peoples as well as some movies based on the history. It also tells us when, how and why different people from all over the world have been immigrating to  California . It explains to us the reasons why it will be a simple multicultural community in the 21st century. The passage helps to develop Ss’ culture awareness and cross-culture communicative skills.  Teaching aims: Knowledge aim : 
To practice the students’ listening ability Ability aim: 
To train the Ss’ reading ability and writing ability Moral aim:

Students can guess the name of the song ------California dream.  
（ 設(shè)計意圖：通過《阿甘正傳》，引入本節(jié)課的話題，讓學(xué)生了解一些關(guān)于加州的知識，提起他們對于進(jìn)一步了解加州的興趣，從而展開對于這節(jié)課的教學(xué)。 ） Step 2: Detailed listening  
1. Ask the students to listen the detailed parts and answer the questions. 2. Ask the students to draw some lines on the map. 3.  Ask the students to answer questions.  
 
 
 
（ 設(shè)計意圖： 此環(huán)節(jié)通過認(rèn)真聽具體的材料， 學(xué)生能很直觀的了解到加州歷史階段的移民 , 讓他們能比較詳細(xì)了解加州整個發(fā)展歷史 , 對其文化多元性有個深刻的理解。 ） 
Step 3: Describe Xiaogan using words and expressions. 1. Ask the students to discuss different topics about Xiangan. 
2. Different groups discuss different topics --- location, climate, food, scenery.  （設(shè)計意圖：通過討論，使學(xué)生進(jìn)一步熟悉和理解家鄉(xiāng)------孝感，使學(xué)生學(xué)會描述一個地方。） Step 4 ： Homework 
1. Make a summary of the different topics.  2. Write a passage about Xiaogan. 
（設(shè)計意圖： 此項(xiàng)任務(wù)重點(diǎn)在于安排學(xué)生熟悉描寫地方的方法。進(jìn)一步的提升學(xué)生的表述能力，與考試接軌。）
