1. Students will be able to spell the words about places and ways and make sentences.
2. Students will be able to complete the map of a city by listening for the location of the places in the dialogues.
3. Students will be able to ask and tell the way by using “first, next, then, finally” and the following structures:
“Excuse me, how do I get to the …? / Where is the…?”
“It’s on …Street.”
“Go along/ turn left/ turn right/ at the traffic lights…”
“You can see the …on your left/right.”
4. Students will be able to write a passage about “My way to school” in different steps.
5. Students will be able to draw their ways to school and present it in front of the whole class.

1. Students can use “first, next, then, finally” to talk about the ways to some places.

3.1第一學(xué)時(shí)
3.1.1Warm up
1. Sing a song: “the wheels on the bus”
   T: How many wheels are there on a bus?   Ss: Four.
   T: Look at the bus, there are many people on the bus.
   (PPT)They go to many places by bus.

  (“By bus” is the way ) way(方式) 
   T: In Unit 2 and Unit 3, we have learned many places and ways.
       Let’s play a game and review them together.
3.1.2Review the words about ways and places
1. Play a guessing game
(1) Guess the words about places and ways according to the description.
(2) Make a sentence
2. Conclude and brainstorm:
       places                Ways
     cinema                by bike
     hospital               by metro
      library                on foot
 supermarket            by taxi
          …                     …
     T: Can you name some other places and ways? (Students say and spell)
     T: We can see these places in our city, and we can use these ways to go around our city.
     T: Today, we are going to make a city.
3.1.3Listen and complete the map of “our city”
T: Look at the map. What are these?
Ss: They are streets
T: First, let’s give the name to the streets.
(show the name and let the students read)
T: Next, let’s give the name to the city. “The _____City”
(teacher’s version: the Fruit City)
T: Then, let’s put these places into the map. (板書 “Places”)
T: But we don’t know where they are. So now it is time for your to listen and find out.
(1)  Listen and find the place in the map
     Dialogue 1:
    (There is a girl. She wants to go to the hospital, but she can’t find it. So she asks a policeman for
    help. Listen and find “where is the hospital?”)
    A girl: Excuse me, how do I get to the hospital?
    Policeman: It’s on this street. Just go along Apple Street and you can see it on your left.
    A girl: Thank you, sir.   
    (A--hospital)
T: How does the girl get to the hospital?
(Students describe the way together.)
 
    Dialogue 2:
    (There is a woman, she asks the policeman for help too.)
    Listen and answer:
    (the 1st time)Where does the woman want to go?
    (listen again)Where is it?
    A woman: Excuse me, where’s the supermarket?
    Policeman: It’s on Black Street. First, go along Banana Street and turn left at the traffic lights.
                       Then, you can see the supermarket on your left.
    A woman: Thank you very much.
    (D—supermarket)
T: How does the girl get to the supermarket?
(Students describe the way together.)
 
    Dialogue 3:
    There is a man, he asks the policeman for help too.
    Listen and answer:
    (the 1st time)Where does the man want to go?
     (listen again)Where is it?
     A man: Excuse me, how can I get to the park on Orange Street?
     Policeman: First, go along Yellow Street. Next, turn right at the second traffic lights.
                       Then go along Orange Street. Finally, you can see the park on your left.
     A man: Thanks. 
     (C— park)
T: How does the girl get to the park?
(Students describe the way together.) (教師以first, next, then, finally引導(dǎo))
 
(2) Listen and fill in the gaps
    (Listen to the 3rd dialogue again and fill in the gaps.)
Ask the way:
    Excuse me, how do I get to the park on Orange Street?
Give the way:  
    _____, go along Yellow Street. (First)
    _____, turn right at the second traffic lights.(Next)
    _____, go along Orange Street. (Then)
    _____, you can see the park on your left. (Finally)
 
   (T asks the way, and Students give the way.)
T: There are 4 steps. We can use first, next, then, finally to give the way, and people can understand you well.
 
(3) Pair work: Ask and give the way
B is cinema and E is library
(one student) ask the way: Excuse me, how do I get to the …?
(one student) give the way: First…next…then…finally…
3.1.4Read and write –Different ways to school
1. Different ways to school –part one
(1)  Ask and answer
    (show another map of the Fruit City)
T: What can you see on this map?
    ( a school, two bus stops, two metro stations and three houses)
T: Who lives in our Fruit City?
    (Billy, Bobby and Sam)
T: Where does …live?
    How does he come to school?
    (ask students to read Billy’s, Bobby’s and Sam’s words together after answering questions)
Billy: I live on Apple Street.
         It’s near school.
         I come to school on foot.
Bobby: I live on Apple Street.
         It’s far from school.
         I come to school by bus.
Sam: I live on Banana Street.
        It’s far from school.
         I come to school by metro.
(2) Write about your own information—part one
T: We have known something about them. Now I want to know about you.
Where do you live? How do you come to school?

 
2. Different ways to school—part two
(1) Billy: My way to school
T: Some of you come to school on foot, like Billy.
Billy is writing about his way to school. Can you help him?
(show the route) 復(fù)習(xí),引導(dǎo)學(xué)生使用first, next, then, finally 來描述路線的具體步驟
 
(2) Bobby: My way to school (gap-filling)
T: How many steps?  
Ss: two
    _____, I take the bus. (First)
    _____, I can see the school in front of me. (Then)
T: Bobby writes more about the first step.
    (ask a student to read) I get on the bus at Apple Stop and get off at Orange Stop.

(3) Sam: My way to school (gap-filling)

I _______ the metro at Banana Station and ________ at Orange Station.

(4) Write about your own information
T: We have known their different ways to school.
Now, I would like to know your way to school.
Choose one and write
 
 
(5) Give a title to the passage
T: Boys and girls, you have answered two questions:
    Where do you live? How do you come to school?
    Now, can you give a title to your passage?
Ss write their titles and share them with the class.
    (The teacher’s version: My way to school?)
 
(6) Present “My way to school”
    T invites some students to draw their route in the screen and present their ways to school in front of the whole class
 
3.1.5Homework
(1) Finish this passage “My way to school”
(2) How do you get to other places? Write about “My way to…”
