Step1: Lead in
1. Greet students and talk about their travel plans during National Day;
2. Show pictures about beautiful views along the Mekong River;
3. Talk about the countries the Mekong River flow through.
Step2: Fast reading
1. Scan the passage and find out who will make a journey down the Mekong, how will they go, and why will they travel.
2. Who planned the trip to Mekong?
Step3: Reading and discussing
1. Read the second paragraph and answer: Can Wang Wei make a good plan?
2. Discuss in group: What kind of person is Wang Wei? What kind of person is Wang Kun? Why?
Step4: Detailed reading
Read the third paragraph and answer:
1. Before the journey, what did they do?
2. From the atlas, what can they see?
Step5: Debate
Work in groups and prepare the debate: Can Wang Kun and Wang Wei make their dream come true?
Step6: Summary
Not everyone can realize his/her dream. But the world always makes way for the dreamer. Follow your dream and never give up.
Step7: Homework
Imagine you are Wang Kun and Wang Wei. Choose a paragraph from the passage and use the information to help you make up a dialogue.
