愛(ài)工作的主要原因是能幫助人們免遭火山襲擊。作者的主要工作是收集基拉韋厄火山的資料，并和其他科學(xué)家一起分析和預(yù)測(cè)火山巖漿的流速和方向。因而在一次火山爆發(fā)后，作者和同伴身穿白色的防護(hù)服，艱難地走到火山口，觀察沸騰的火山口中央，并采集了部分巖漿以作研究。最后作者表達(dá)了對(duì)自己工作的熱情，
火山對(duì)他的吸引力依然不減。
