Teaching Plan of “China Leads World in Mobile Payment”
Teaching material analysis:
This passage is from the newspaper, so it is a pretty new topic and is closely related to our daily life. As for the students, this is a fresh topic which they are familiar with. So they will have interest to talk about “mobile payment” and the changes it leads to. Teaching goals: 1. Knowledge and skills:
1) Enable students to get familiar with the topics “mobile payment” and “cashless society”;
2) Arouse students’ interest in learning English by using them; 2. Process and steps:
With the method of discussion and group work, students are encouraged to take about “mobile payment” and “cashless society”freely; 3. Emotional attitudes and values:
To draw students’ attentions on the technology development of China and cultivate students’ patriotism; Teaching important points:
1. Let students know better about the topics “mobile payment” and “cashless society”;
2. Encourage students to talk about something relevant to mobile
payment;
3. Let students list the advantages and disadvantages of mobile payment; Teaching difficult points:
1. Encourage students to talk about something relevant to mobile payment;
2. Encourage students to join in the group work actively. Teaching aids:
The hand-out, blackboard, PowerPoint, pictures; Teaching duration 40 minutes;
Teaching process: Step ⅠLead-in
I will use the latest movie “Spider Man: Homecoming” , “KFC” and “iPhone 8” as the lead-in. After that, let students talk about what kinds of mobile payment they know and we may use in our daily life. Step ⅡReading Comprehending
Let students use their reading skills to find the answers of the following questions:
1.What does Singapore's Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong think of the mobile payment in China?
2. Where can we find Wechat pay and Alipay in foreign countries? 3.Why do Chinese mobile payment perform better than the US, according
to the author? Step Ⅲ Post-reading
1.Let students watch the video “What is Alipay” . From the video, lead (to ?)the topic “cashless society”;
2.Let students share their opinions on “cashless society”; Step Ⅳ Group Work : Role play
Divide students into four groups and each group have one role. The roles are “student”, “shop owner”, “policeman”, and “an aged farmer”. Students will think from the roles’ point of view, and then list the advantages and disadvantages of the “cashless society”. After their discussion, each group will choose a leader to present their work. Step Ⅴ Summary
I will summarize students’ presentations previously and give them some time to imagine life in the future. Step Ⅵ Homework
Let students write a short passage titled “A Future Day”based on what we have learned and discussed today.
