Revision of the passive voice
Ⅰ Teaching aims
1. Language ability: in this lesson, the students will learn and master the concept and the structure of the passive voice as well as the tenses of the passive voice. Besides, the students will also be able to change an active sentence into a passive sentence. In the end, the students will remember four famous proverbs which contain the passive voice.
2. Thinking quality: to guide the students to think about how to master the passive voice. 3. Learning ability: the students will know how to learn the passive voice.
4. Cultural awareness: the students will know that the passive voice is widely used in English and the difference in voices between Chinese and English.
Ⅱ Teaching important and difficult points: the tenses of the passive voice and how to change an active sentence into a passive sentence.

Listen to a song called Dream It Possible and briefly introduce it. Then ask the students to observe the red words in the brief introduction of the song and find out what they have in common.

Part 2 Tenses of the passive voice 口訣:被動語態be 字變,過去分詞跟后面。
一般現在時 (Simple present tense) am/ is / are + done
一般過去時 (Simple past tense) was / were + done 一般將來時 (Simple future tense) shall /would +be done
現在進行時 (Present continuous tense) am / is / are + being done
過去進行時 (Past continuous tense) was / were + being done
現在完成時 (Present perfect tense) have/ has + been done
過去完成時 (Past perfect tense) had + been done
過去將來時 (Past future tense)
should / would + be done

Since the song was released(發行), many people have been touched by it, because from the song they know that their dreams will be realized as long as they are not defeated(打敗).
There are two voices in English —active voice and passive voice.When the subject of a sentence is the agent (執行者),we use active voice; when the subject is the recipient (承受者), we use the passive voice. 助動詞be+過去分詞

I was made to do the work by him. 在see, watch, hear, notice, make,have, feel等動詞后作賓語補足語的動詞不定式都不帶to,
但改成被動語態后都要帶to。
They have never listened to him. He has never been listened to.
注意:含動詞詞組的被動語態,須將其看作一個整體,不可把它們分隔開來。 【練習】Rewrite the sentence using the passive voice.

Step 7 Teaching reflection
In this class, I guide my students to revise the basic concept and structure of the passive voice. As they have learned the passive voice in the junior high school, it is easy for them to talk about these two aspects. But, the students are most likely to make mistakes in the tenses of the passive voice and the exchange between the active sentence and passive sentence, so I spend most time to help them focus on the two language points. After my students have mastered the rules, they are told to finish some exercises to consolidate the usages of the passive voice.
However, there are some deficiencies.The classroom language that I use is not so precise. And I don’t motivate the students’ interest in learning the passive voice. When I ask my students to discuss with each other, most of them choose to keep silent and do the second exercise by themselves.
To some degree, this class is successful, because my students have mastered the concept and the structure of the passive voice. They can also use the right tenses of the passive voice when they rewrite an active sentence using the passive voice.
