China.

a. Develop positive life attitudes. b. Broaden the students’horizons. 2、Analysis of the Teaching Material:
The topic of this module is “Great people and great inventions
of ancient China”. In this module, we will talk about some famous philosophers in ancient China and some great inventions worldwide. The purpose of the reading part is to introduce three famous philosophers in ancient China and talk about their teachings. 3、The General Idea of This Period:
In this period , we’ll introduce three famous philosophers in ancient China and talk about their teachings. By reading, the students can not only know some information about these famous philosophers, but also develop the positive attitudes towards life. 4、 About the students:
Most of the students in this class are not good at English. They couldn’t remember some language points clearly, and they have difficulty in using words. Some of them may have trouble in understanding the meanings of some sentences.
5、 Teaching strategies:
(1)Teaching Methods:
a. Activities to help the students go through vocabulary.
b. Individual, pair and group work to make every student work in class. (2)Learning Strategies:
a. Control: While doing tasks, watch and listen to other classmates and learn from them. b. Resources: Learn about different words and phrases to describe the life and teachings of the three philosophers of ancient China. (3)Teaching Aids:

Step 1. Revision

因為學生基礎較差,知識面比較有限,此環節通過引入學生比較熟悉的《論語》一書中的內容,讓學生先討論該書,引發學生興趣,然后引入一些書中耳熟
能詳的句子,讓學生進行翻譯練習,為課文中理解哲學家們的學說做好準備。 Step 3. Reading I. Main idea:

Activity 1: Pair work
Discuss with their deskmates about the statements on the screen and tell true or false.
1.Confucius lived in a country where there was no war a long time ago. 2. Confucius was a philosopher who has been the most influential for more than 2000 years.
3. Mencius was a student taught by Confucius. 4. Mencius resigned from the government because the ruler didn’t respect him.
5. Mozi’s beliefs were the same as those of Confucius. Activity 2: Individual work

通過作業的形式,把拓展部分通過書面表達的形式進一步進行練習,一方面,鞏固文章所學內容。另一方面,讓學生通過文章,進一步思考生活。
