Teaching steps Step 1 Lead-in.
Show the result of the survey. 92% of the students have worries and only 8% of the students don’t have worries. T: What do you think of the result? S1: … S2: …
T: Yeah, I think so, too. And do you have any worries? What will you do if have worries? Will you tell your parents or teachers about them? Or will you talk to your friends ? Maybe you just do nothing?
Ask some students to answer the questions.
T: So today we’re going to talk about worries and problems. Do you want to solve your problems better? Now please read the passage quickly and find out the main idea of it. Step 2 Fast reading.
Students read the passage quickly and find out the main idea. Helpful tips: a. Read quickly.
(Pay attention to the first and the last sentences of each
paragraph ).
b. Find out the key words(關鍵詞）. Ask one student to share his/her idea . Step3 Careful reading
Read the passage again and fins out the answers to the questions .Then discuss them with your deskmate. 1.What is the worst thing to do if you have a problem?
2.Why didn’t Laura want to tell her parents about her lost wallet?
3.What is the first thing you should do when you want to solve a problem?
4.Why can our parents give us good advice about our problems ? Tips:
a. Read carefully.
b. Underline useful sentences. 3.Guess the meanings of some words. (The teacher may provide help .)
Invite some students to read the questions and the answers. Step 4 Challenge yourself.
Read the passage again and fill in the blanks with the phrase in the box.
(Leave them 3 minutes.)
Check the answers and then the whole class read the short passage together. Step5 Group work.
Here are the common worries and problems among teenagers. Do you have these worries ? Please work in groups and think of some possible solutions to the four problems.

Worries and problems are normal in our life. We can talk to someone we trust .Then we are halfway to solving a problem. Step7 Homework.
