Step1: Lead in
1. Ask students what they want to do in the coming summer vacation and tell them my plan: to have an adventure. Then invite them to experience the adventure together and show the video of the adventure.
設計說明: 暑假在即,談論暑假計劃切合學生的生活實際,然后自然過渡到談論我的暑期計劃并由此引出本課主題:探險。然后播放學生熟悉的動畫片“熊出沒大冒險”的英文預告以激發學生的興趣。
2. Then do a guessing game of two adventurers in the cartoon. Sentences including attributive clauses are used.
Who is he?
It is a strong and smart bear whose goal is to protect the forest and its younger brother.
He is a poor worker whose job is cutting trees for his boss. He lives in a forest where his only companions are the animals.
設計說明:猜謎游戲能更好地調動學生的參與積極性,而且謎底是大家非常熟悉的動畫片中的人物:熊大(Briar bear)和光頭強(Logger Vick)。
Step2: Discovery and induction
Present the sentences including attributive clauses and ask students to observe them and then lead them to find out the attributive clauses are helpful for them to figure out the answer. Then show a video
which explains the knowledge of attributive clause and lead students to revise the knowledge of the relative pronouns and relative adverbs.

Step 3. Practice : learn to use attributive clause in real situations
設計說明:復習了定語從句的知識后,學生要學會在不同的語境中使用定從。以下的活動設計全部圍繞著本單元的主題-探險來展開,這些基于現實場景的語境既真實鮮活,又富有趣味,能很好地抓住學生的興趣,并帶給他們真實的語言感受。
Activity 1“The legendary of the golden antlers”
Show students the legendary of the golden antlers and ask them to finish the blanks by using the knowledge of attributive clause.
The Legendary of the Golden Antlers
Long long ago, there was a hunter in the forest ______ was good at archery. However, one winter the forest was hit by a rare snowstorm ______ lasted seven days. The hunter became unconscious due to hunger and coldness. On the occasion ______ he was dying, a deer appeared. The deer put the hunter on its back and sent him to a warm place ______ the hunter came to life. Unfortunately, the deer was so tired that it fell onto the ground. That was a magic moment ______ the storm suddenly stopped and the bitter winter changed into warm spring. The deer, _______ body disappeared, left its golden antlers. Activity 2 Introducing the other roles of the adventure
Show students some pictures of the other adventurers and give introductions of them. Students have to finish the blanks in the sentences.

設計說明: 該練習依然緊扣探險主題介紹其他的探險成員,并為下一個活動做好鋪墊。
Activity 3 Introduce classmates
Ask students to introduce their classmates by writing down sentences which include attributive
clauses.
設計說明:該環節主要是訓練學生使用定語從句創造句子并解決實際問題。在進行了前面兩項填
寫關系代詞和關系副詞的簡單訓練后,這個活動中的練習難度增加了,由半開放式訓練逐漸過渡到了開放式訓練,符合由易到難的原則。該環節也是學生參與度和積極性會很高的一個活動,因為貼近他們的生活,語言表達符合他們的實際需求。
Activity4 Give help as a detective
Situation:The map which shows the location of the golden antlers was gone. Two eyewitnesses happened to have seen the theft respectively. To figure out who the thief is, students need to join the sentences with the notes by using the attributive clauses.

設計說明:該環節是依然一個相對開放的練習,在這個環節中,學生充當偵探去幫助熊大熊二找出小偷,以便保護金鹿角。這個活動的設計依然緊緊圍繞這段探險展開,讓學生在真實任務中學會運用定語從句這一語法知識解決實際問題,而這才是我們學習語法的最根本的目的和作用。
Activity 5 A thank-you letter
With students’help, the golden antlers are protected. So the adventurers wrote a letter to show their gratitude to the students.students have to finish the letter and at the end of the letter,students once again realize the spirits of adventure: “nothing ventured, nothing gained”and “nothing is difficult to the man who will try!”
設計說明:最后這個環節是熊大熊二和光頭強寫給同學們的感謝信,信中表達了對同學們的感激之情,感謝他們在探險中運用其豐富的語言知識和巨大的勇氣幫助保護了金鹿角。該環節既是對本節課語法知識的一個回顧總結,同時也是本課情感態度和價值觀的升華:不入虎穴,焉得虎子;世上無難事,只怕有心人!
