4.1 Background information
School: Bishan Senior High School Teacher: Wu Hongying Class : Class 26, Grade 2020
Size: 48 (The whole class is divided into groups with 4-5 members in each according to their seats.)
Materials: “Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained” of Unit 1, Senior English for Schools Student’s Book 10 Type of lesson: Grammar
Aids: PPT, K7(exhibition platform),students’ tablet computer, marker, whiteboard
4.2 Contents
(1) Sentence structures of attributive clause
main sentence + relative pronouns + attributive clause (2) Rules for choosing relative pronouns
4.3 Objectives
4.3.1 Instructional objectives
By the end of the class, students should be able to:

1) Underline the structure of attributive clause by learning about the main characters
in Avengers Four.
2) Learn the usage and of relative pronouns– which, that, who, whose and
distinguish them in attributive clause by knowing about the plot of the movie. 3) Understand the meaning of complex sentences with attributive clauses in the
movie ending and write a short letter to Pepper for Iron Man by using attributive clause.
4) Cherish the peaceful life that they have now and be grateful to the “heroes” in
reality.
4.4 Focal points
The focal points in this lesson include:
1) Underline the structure of attributive clause by learning about the main characters
in Avengers Four.
2) Learn the usage and of relative pronouns– which, that, who, whose and
distinguish them in attributive clause by knowing about the plot of the movie. 3) Understand the meaning of complex sentences with attributive clauses in the

4.6 Teaching Procedures 4.6.1 Stage 1 Greeting and lead-in
Activity 1. Show some pictures of the characters in the movie AVENGERS FOUR and describe the characters by using attributive clauses.
(The teacher expects students to produce adjectives or other kind of attributes to describe the following pictures.)

The three men that are brave and handsome are called Iron Man, Captain America and Thor.
Captain Marvel who absorbed the energy of the Tesseract （宇宙魔方）is pretty but powerful.

Black widow and Hawkeye hold the best friendship which makes both of them be willing of losing their lives for each other.
The men that can change their human bodies into giants are Hulk and Ant Man.
Nebula whose father is Thanos looks like a Robot.
(The pictures come from the official Microblog account of the movie and are about some main
characters in the movie.)

Activity 4. Single work: Apply the rules: Complete the following blanks with who/that/whose/which to know about the ending of the movie.
After everyone has returned to Earth, Hulk volunteers himself to do the finger snap and bring back everyone _______ disappeared in Thanos‘s snap. He succeeds, though they are almost immediately attacked by Thanos, _____ has been brought to Earth by the fake Nebula. Thanos turns the Avengers headquarters into ruins. The three fight against Thanos one on one, but are defeated by Thanos. Captain Marvel ________ power is

boundless reappears and help Iron Man retrieve the Infinity Stones from Thanos‘ hand. After that, Iron Man uses the Stones to turn Thanos and his army into dust, successfully stating “I am Iron Man.” His wife comfort him griefly, as Iron Man, ______ arc-reactor（鋼鐵俠佩戴的心臟反應(yīng)堆） finally goes out, dies from overexposure(過度曝光) to the Stones with only one word: ” Pepper”. 4.6.4 Stage 4 Practice
(in this stage, the teacher show ss a short video which is about the above short passage and also about the end of the movie. At the end of the video, the main character, Iron Man, died without any other words for his wife but only one word, so the teacher guide the ss to discuss and write a short letter for Iron Man to his wife.) Activity 5. Group work: Suppose you are Iron Man, what would you say to her? Please write a short letter to Pepper by using at least 3 attributive clauses, and later choose a speaker to share the letter with classmates.

(after sharing, the teacher guide ss to realize the superheroes in real life and guide ss treasure the peaceful life that they own at present and be grateful to those social workers with the following pictures.)
